Some knitwear...

Well, your gran certainly wouldn't be knitting this bad boy that's for sure! Irina Shaposhnikova, just received her MA at Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts, but this is actually her previous collection. These chunky knits attached to a thin mesh definitely push the limits of typical knitwear. They also link quite well to my interest in structured garments and how fabric can be manipulated... so I may have to purchase some knitted fabric on my next trip down to London...

I do like a bit of GaGa...

'Haus of GaGa' is definitely a winner in my eyes. Designing these amazing structured ribcages whilst pairing them with nude skin-tight garments creates a whole new perspective and relationship with the human body and fashion. It seems the line between conceptional art and fashion is blurring day by day thanks to GaGa and her team!
It also reminds me of Katie Eary and her current menswear collection... http://www.katieeary.co.uk/

In Love.

I am pretty much In Love with the Croatian born designer Damir Doma. Growing up in Germany and working with Raf Simons, his work is amazing and is extremelly influencial on my current designs. Within his garments he reflects the human body whilst exploring contemporary masculinaties... sounds slightly familiar...

Currently working on...

I'm currently manipulating images that I have either drawn/ photographed. Im aiming to create imagery that makes the male body look, almost, transparent so you can see not only internal bone structure and organs but architectural structures also. Creating the concept that the male body is a man-made measurement. Exploring Da Vinci's theory of 'man as a measure for all things', the male body as on object, a measurement.

So, I finally made a blog...

After months of forgetting I had a Blog I am finally using it!
So far fourth year Textiles is going pretty well and currently I'm in the process of finding designers to contextualise my designs for menswear... so here's a preview of just a few designers that have influenced me in parts.
From top to bottom: Ann Demeulemeester, Romain Kremer, Julius, Katie Eary.
