future fashions.

Gudrun Kloepsch

Lacopo Calamandrei

Adrian Sommerauer

Katie Eary

These images display just a few pieces of work from designers, all having graduated from the RCA in 2009, currently exhibiting within the V&A. Well worth a look if you're down in Londontown, as the exhibition most definitely holds an eclectic mix of work from delicate embroidered couture garments to bold prints and forms from Katie Eary.

ioannis dimitrousi.

From fabric manipulation to the use of experimental materials to his talented skills in crochet, not to mention having dressed Lady GaGa last year, Ioannis Dimitrousis' work is eclectic to say the least.

Miss Dalton

Menswear designer Lou Dalton previously known for her quirky take on classic english dress, seen in the first image, seems to have taken a risk with her SS 10 collection. The most bold pieces of her collection consisting of the shoulder piece, seen in the above image, and the bustle. I love her mixture of classic and the innovative, there's no point recreating the past unless you're going to mix it up a bit.

Summer's here

Okay so maybe summer isn't quite here yet... what with the snow outside my house making that quite obvious. However, i sure as hell can't wait to see more of Burberry in the upcoming months. Mr Bailey sure is doing a good job of making us rapidly forget Burberrys 'chav' days.

LennyPierRamos

Whilst reading the latest edition of Dazed and Confused I came across an extremely talented young menswear designer named Lenny Pier Ramos. Born in Montreal this 23 year old designer uses atmosphere and his interest in sub cultural groups as an influence within his work. I LOVE his subtle use of fabric manipulation, as these pleats and folds seem to embody a symbolic form of new age bondage. Currently working on his own label, and as one half of the brand PowerHaus, not to mention being the menswear designer for Louis Vuitton i can't wait to see what 2010 holds for him.

Some knitwear...

Well, your gran certainly wouldn't be knitting this bad boy that's for sure! Irina Shaposhnikova, just received her MA at Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts, but this is actually her previous collection. These chunky knits attached to a thin mesh definitely push the limits of typical knitwear. They also link quite well to my interest in structured garments and how fabric can be manipulated... so I may have to purchase some knitted fabric on my next trip down to London...

I do like a bit of GaGa...

'Haus of GaGa' is definitely a winner in my eyes. Designing these amazing structured ribcages whilst pairing them with nude skin-tight garments creates a whole new perspective and relationship with the human body and fashion. It seems the line between conceptional art and fashion is blurring day by day thanks to GaGa and her team!
It also reminds me of Katie Eary and her current menswear collection... http://www.katieeary.co.uk/

In Love.

I am pretty much In Love with the Croatian born designer Damir Doma. Growing up in Germany and working with Raf Simons, his work is amazing and is extremelly influencial on my current designs. Within his garments he reflects the human body whilst exploring contemporary masculinaties... sounds slightly familiar...
